Summer Cycling Program 2009

Call your friends, get out your bikes and let's ride!

The MBSEF Summer Cycling Program is designed for any Central Oregon teen, our winter athletes (alpine, cross country, snowboard) and their friends who have the desire to improve their cycling skills, improve their strength and fitness, and have a great time. We encourage all of the riders to enter some races and will focus on preparing them to enjoy the competition. Again this year we will offer both mountain bike riding and road bike riding.

Enrollment Form - 2009

Mountain:  The mountain program is for ages 8-18 and emphasis will be on technique, fitness and ongoing education regarding equipment and trail etiquette. A meeting for parents will be held at the MBSEF office, Thursday, April 16, at 7p.m. The team will meet 3 days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) at various Central Oregon locations. Loaner mountain bikes and tuition assistance will be available for mountain bike program members. Applications for Session 1 loaner road bikes and tuition assistance are due on April 20th.

Road:  The road program will be for ages 12 -18 and includes 4 practices per week to take advantage of local competition opportunities (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). Based on interest, coaches will also be able to facilitate travel to selected races throughout Oregon. Loaner road bikes and tuition assistance are also available for road program members. Applications for Session 1 loaner road bikes and tuition assistance are due on April 20th. Please secure a $5 OBRA junior license to be part of the road program www.obra.org.

Cycling is a lifetime sport, and the exciting part of the MBSEF Summer Cycling Program is introducing young mountain and road cyclists to a team atmosphere where they can improve their cycling skills and fitness levels. The Summer Cycling Program also exposes young riders to a community where coaches, parents and community members are excited about developing, promoting and living a cycling lifestyle. Coaching positions are available for 2009. If you wish to be a road or mountain bike coach for the summer, please send your resume to mbsef@mbsef.org.  There will be a coaches meeting Wednesday April 15 at 7pm at the MBSEF office.
